HIGHLANDS THE COMMUNITY
Highands is considered an Historic community
bounded by Ada Blvd on the South, 118 Ave on the North
67 St on the East and 50 St on the West.
It is a quaint area, in a good way where you can enjoy a lazy afternoon in the sun
or get away for a weekend of enjoyment and relaxation
HIghlands in an inviting place with an antique store,
boutiques, and vintage clothing stores, bed and Breakfast and fine eateries.
LARGE APPOINTED HOUSES
Large, well appointed houses are to be found along or near Ada Boulevard,
where residents enjoy a spectacular view of the North Saskatchewan River Valley
Highlands has remained an area of low density residential development.
The Highlands neighbourhood also contains many significant heritage resources.
The locally initiated Highlands Historical Foundation
was established in 1988 to increase awareness about,
and the preservation of, heritage resources within the neighbourhood.
Highlands has activities for young and old alike.
There are two which are both open to all and one is for women.
CANINE DROP IN
Meet with other Highlands dogs and their owners to practice obedience and socialisation.
Hosted by Feisty Fido, where all dogs (non-aggressive) are welcome to come an play.
The Highlands Community garden is a lovely plot of lands
just North of the Highlands Community League on 113 Avenue and 62 Street.
They offer garden plots for rent to those who want to eat local,
meet new folks from the neighbourhood and play in the dirt.

Every month from September to June, a group of community members
or a club hosts a pub night at the Highlands Community Centre.
Pub nights are typically themed featuring great music, munchies and prizes.
Drinks and snacks are reasonably priced and friendships come easily.
All are welcome!
Folks of all skill levels are welcome. It is a no hit, full equipment hockey.
Teams are divided each week and they seek to ensure
that there are goalies for every game.
SOFTBALL & BASEBALL for 4 to 19 years old
SOCCER - Outdoor and Indoor for 4 to 18 years of age

Highlands has the fastest growing tennis association in Edmonton.
Their goal is to introduce tennis to Highlands and the surrounding communities through
structured social tennis events and lessons offered by certified tennis professionals.
WOMEN’S SHINNY HOCKEY
The Thistle Curling Club is located at 6920-114 Avenue.
It is the oldest curling club in Edmonton and is still very active.
Numerous bonspiels and other special events occur at the Thistle Curling Club
throughout the curling season. These events give curlers of all calibre an opportunity to
exercise and socialize with team mates, friends and neighbours at “the little club with the
Founded in 1929 Highlands Golf Club is a members owned club and is situated in the
beautiful North Saskatchewan River Valley, just minutes east of the downtown core.
The Highlands Lawn Bowling Club is Located at 6112-113 Avenue.
The club hosts a number of events through out the year for regular bowlers
and Open Houses for those wishing to give it a try.
The season runs from May 14 - September 29 and everyone is welcome
PLAYGROUND WADING POOL and SWIMMING
There are a number of public pools in and around Highlands including Eastglen,
A.C.T and Bonnie Doon. Borden Park offers an outdoor pool
which is open during the summer time.
