SUPER MAGICAL BIRTHDAY BASH

The Callingwood Marketplace is celebrating their 30th birthday.
 
It is an event for kids to meet some real princesses and super heroes!
There will be photo ops, a petting zoo with 20 bunnies from Hoppy Acres,

LIVES OF LESSER THINGS


All Ages
This 35 minute Canadian opera commissioned by NUOVA in 2008
was written specifically for young audiences
by Canadian tenor (and NUOVA alumnus), Isaiah Bell.

This imaginative performance tells the tale of a caterpillar
who must go through the chrysalis stage to become a beautiful butterfly.
 
While in her cocoon the world changes and her friends the gnats and the dungbeetle
have been negatively affected by these changes to the environment.

DROP IN SKATING, SHINNY AND FIGURE SKATING

Free public skating is available year-round. Staff and skate assists
are on site during all public skating times. Helmets are not required, however highly recommended.

Equipment not permitted during public skating includes: strollers, sleds, hockey sticks,
pucks, and balls. Please do not bring your personal belongings to public skates.

Public Skating Guidelines

Types of Public Skating
-Public Skate For everyone.
-Parents & Tots Skate (incl. “Sticks & Pucks”)
-For parents and their 3-5 year olds. The ice is divided with pylons into 2 sheets.
-Half for Parents & Tots skating, and half for “Sticks & Pucks”
     (practice shooting at the net). Helmets are strongly recommended.
-Seniors Skate (65 years +)
      For seniors 65+ to skate and socialise.

ROOT FOR TREES FEST


Date: Saturday, June 14, 2014
Time: 10am-2pm
Location: The Grange District Park
(park grounds near Sister Annata Brockman School)

Cost: Free

Attend this free family event held yearly in June.
Kids 11 and under can participate in a 1 or 2 kilometre race
where they run, plant a tree, and then water it.

Help the Community Greening Team and Syncrude volunteers plant 1,000 trees!
Go Orien-treeing and learn how to geocache. The sound track of the day
will be Edmonton's own 100 Mile House.

Crafts, campfire and bannock making, air brush tattoos,
and community displays will round-out this tree-ific day!

Picnicking is a fantastic activity for friends and family across the River Valley.
You have a variety of options: from drop-in sites to bookable spaces, your choices are endless.
Take time to relax and rejuvenate in a River Valley park this year.

Although picnic sites are bookable from March through to October,
those wishing to embrace winter are more than welcome to picnic year-round.
The snow isn’t cleared at picnic sites,
so you’ll need to be creative and enjoy the challenge!

Many of Edmonton’s parks have picnic tables available for use
on a first-come, first-served basis. However,
if you wish to guarantee a picnic site, make a reservation in advance.
